In October 2020 Awooga Events were tasked with organising an elite road 5km race on a closed circuit to World Athletics standards and under strict government covid restrictions. A brilliant field of both male and female athletes was put together including international athletes Jess Hull (AUS), Eric Jenkins (USA), Laura Weightman (GB) and Callum Hawkins (GB).

The event was IAAF certified and live streamed on BBC Red Button. Fast 5K was one of the first elite road races to make a return during covid has been held a number of times since the inaugural race at various venues with event management by Awooga Events.
